Antso Razakafamantanantsoa is a seasoned conservation professional with over a decade of experience protecting Madagascar’s unique forests and wildlife. His work combines hands-on field expertise with scientific rigor and community-centered approaches to achieve lasting conservation outcomes.
Most recently, Antso served as Head of Operations at Ranomafana National Park, where he led comprehensive conservation programs. Previously, he held the same leadership role at Kirindy-Mité National Park and Andranomena Special Reserve. In these positions, he successfully managed ecological monitoring programs, implemented fire management strategies, and fostered meaningful community engagement initiatives. Notably, he played a pivotal role in developing a national volunteer program that has since been adopted across five protected areas throughout Madagascar.
Antso earned his bachelor’s degree in biodiversity conservation from the University of Fianarantsoa and pursued advanced graduate studies in zoology at the University of Mahajanga. His technical expertise includes proficiency in SMART conservation tools and extensive experience in ecological data collection and analysis. Through specialized training programs, he has developed advanced competencies in adaptive management with SMART systems and the application of forest alert technologies for real-time conservation monitoring.
To strengthen his leadership capabilities, Antso completed executive management training at INSCAE University of Antananarivo, where he honed essential skills in project planning, coordination, and team leadership. These management competencies have proven invaluable in his role overseeing complex protected area operations and multi-stakeholder conservation initiatives.
