How does Conservation Allies work?

Do you run a biodiversity conservation organization in any place of the world?

If yes, then we want to support your organization. Here is the information about Conservation Allies and how the support we offer works, please read it carefully.

What is Conservation Allies?

We are a conservation nonprofit that was born with the purpose of supporting nonprofit organizations dedicated to biodiversity conservation around the world. We offer your organization the possibility to receive donations from the United States through fiscal sponsorship and we offer donors a way to make safe and easy US tax-deductible donations.

Conservation Allies is a one-of-a-kind nonprofit. Organizations around the world can join our community for free, you can trust that donations made through Conservation Allies are efficiently delivered to their intended destination. We don’t retain any percentage from the received donations for overhead.

To understand how Conservation Allies can help your organization, first you need to understand some basic concepts about the world of nonprofit and taxes in the United States.

What is a nonprofit using a Tax Based Definition?

The United States defines nonprofit organizations in tax law laid down by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The tax code lists some 30 different types of entity which can benefit from exemption from corporate income tax. These include social clubs, cemetery companies fraternal benefit societies, religious and charitable organization.

Additional tax benefits are offered to some organizations which permit their donors to claim a tax deduction in return for their support. The majority of those that are able to receive such tax deductible contributions fall into one specific category of the code: Section 501(c)(3).

So – why become a 501(c)3?

As we’ve seen the IRS recognizes more than 30 types of nonprofit organizations. Organizations that qualify as 501(c)(3)  are unique because donations to these organizations are tax-deductible for donors.

Would you like to receive these benefits but are you unable to become a 501(c)(3) organization in the United States?

We are here to help you. Conservation Allies is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization (Federal Tax EIN #: 84-3985727) which enables it to receive donations and offer the benefit of tax exemption to its donors in the United States. This fact allows us to act as a bridge between US donors and conservation organizations around the world, allowing them to raise money that would otherwise be impossible.

How does the process work?

  1. Your donors in the United States send their donation to Conservation Allies
  2. We offer the donor the donation voucher for tax exemption
  3. We collect all the donations received for your NGO during a period of time
  4. We send you the donations received without any additional administrative cost

We are not the only organization in the world offering this kind of partnership, but what makes us a one-of-a-kind nonprofit is Conservation Allies charges no overhead or admin costs on all donations to any of our partners, while other organizations doing similar work can retain around 5%-20% from every donation.

We are a small team, thanks to the fact that our donors cover the administrative costs, donations for your organization will not be charged with any extra cost for administrative charges. The only charge that the amount sent by the donor to your organization will suffer will be the bank charges for each international transfer made (fees from the bank in the USA + the fees from your local bank).

In some cases when the amount collected during the year is small, we can even support by covering the cost of the bank transfer in the United States (USD 40 dollars).  This charge remains constant for each international transfer regardless of the amount transferred. One hundred or one hundred thousand is the same. For this reason, money transfers are made 1 or 2 times a year or depending on the need, it is a higher amount.

How does the agreement work?

By signing the cooperation agreement we will create for your organization a page within our website that identifies you as an ally. Within this page, a unique and exclusive donation button will be hosted through the Bloomerang platform for your organization. You must, within the communication media of your organization, add links that take your potential donors to this website to make their donations.
