About Association Mitsinjo
Association Mitsinjo is a non-profit organization that works in Mitsinjo Park. In 2003, Association Mitsinjo took over the management of Analamazaotra Forest Station, a nature reserve 2,896 acres in size. Founded and run by the local community, Mitsinjo holds a deep understanding of how environmental issues are intrinsically tied to community health. All of their projects are community-based and tackle a variety of challenges, including reforestation, environmental education, sustainable development, and wildlife conservation and monitoring.
Their Challenges
Association Mitsinjo faces many challenges, including forest degradation from worsening fires, slash-and-burn agriculture, logging, and the production of fuelwood and charcoal.
Their Approach
Mitsinjo not only focuses on managing the protected natural resources and conserving biodiversity but also on improving the livelihoods of its members and the people within their community. They have a six-pronged approach:
- Reforestation and rainforest restoration
- Environmental education
- Community-based environmental protection and sustainable agriculture
- Human health and family planning
- Amphibian conservation
- Lemur monitoring
Why They Need Your Help
Your support contributes to the long-term conservation of Mitsinjo Park, protecting its unique ecosystems and promoting a harmonious relationship between humans and nature. Donations allow Association Mitsinjo to continue their work, where they have achieved great success in reforestation, wildlife conservation, and community development projects.
Conservation Allies charges no overhead fees or administration costs, meaning 100% of your donation goes directly to the Partner or Project of your choice. All donations made from the United States are fully tax-deductible.
